The conference “Negotiating the Revolt. Punk in Times of Political Transformation” was held in a subcultural and to great extent also symbolical space called “Eternia” in Prague.
🧵 The Year of Threads: Summary of The Year
Threads run through human civilization from myths to digital networks – they connect, break, provoke, and inspire. What was once practical craftwork and a female stereotype has become a recognized artistic discipline and a powerful metaphor for connection as well as resistance. The Year of Threads at CSPK will bring stories, workshops, and lectures that show the strands of pop culture stretch further than we might expect.

We are pleased to invite proposals for DC26, a Dancecult Research Network conference to be held 14–15 May 2026 at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague, in cooperation with the Dancecult journal, local organizers and the Dancecult Research Network (DRN). This two-day, in-person conference will bring together scholars, students, practitioners, artists, and archivists engaged with the study of electronic music and dance cultures. All presentations will be live streamed.
Conference – Negotiating the Revolt: Punk in Times of Political Transformation
The conference is organized by the Institute of Czech History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University alongside the project Negotiating the Revolt in Czech and Slovak Postsocialist Transition, which is supported by the Czech Science Foundation and carried out in collaboration with the Archive of Czech and Slovak Subcultures, the Centre for the Study of Popular Culture and the Punk Scholars Network Slovak and Czech.
